Mary Jane Pressley was born March 25, 1864 in Mississippi.  She was the daughter of Levi P. Pressley and Margaret Emily Renfrow who were married in Rankin County, MS in 1859.

On June 9,  1881  Mary Jane Pressley married  Elbert Hillard Carson in Rankin Co., MS.  Within a few years, the family, including Mary Jane's parents, removed to Texas. Mary Jane Pressley Carson died in Moscow, Polk County, Texas about 1891.
 
Mary Jane Pressley and Elbert Hillard Carson were the parents of five children:

Lena Carson, born 1882 in Hinds County, MS.  Lena married Virgil Green Franklin. These are the direct ancestors of  Dan Franklin, the owner of this photograph of Mary Jane Pressley Carson.

Margaret Jessie Carson, born 1885 in Hinds County, MS.  Margaret married Albert Eugene Franklin, the brother of Virgil Green Franklin, mentioned above. 

Mary Emma Carson,  born December 28, 1888, married Albert Warren Howard.

Robert Hillard Carson,  born 1890 in Mississippi, married Inez (last name unknown)

Ruby Gabriella Carson, born December 12, 1890 in Polk County, Texas, married Thomas Allen Dubose.
