JOHN IVAN PRESSLEY
of Union County, North Carolina

On February 21, 1890, at the age of 23, John Ivan Pressley married Sophronia Ellen "Fronie" Meigs, the daughter of Jonathan Meigs and Ann Elizabeth Adcock.  Fronie Meigs was born August 22, 1866, also in Union County, NC.

John and Fronie Presley raised a family of eight children in Union County, NC.  Their children were Lester Johnson Pressley, born October 22, 1891; Lonnie Carlton Pressley, born September 29, 1894; Carrie Lee Pressley, born October 9, 1897; William Bennett Pressley, born March 31, 1900; John Blair Pressley, born March 26, 1903; Beulah Ann Pressley,  born March 16, 1905; Gussie Maybelle Pressley, born September 1, 1907; and Lola Jane Pressley, born October 24, 1911.

John Ivan Pressley was widowed December 30, 1935 with the death of Fronie Meigs in Belmont, Gaston Co., NC.  He passed away four years later, on Valentine's Day, 1940, in Belmont. 

The last child of John and Fronie Meigs Pressley, Lola Jane Pressley,  is the mother of Doug Norwood , the owner of the photographs on this page.

Lola Jane Pressley, married Buford James Norwood on January 29, 1930.  Buford Norwood was born October 2, 1909 in Lincoln County, NC.  He died on Christmas Day,1964, in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC.
