         To
Philip DILLARD

State of South Carolina  Edgefield District

Know all men by these presents that I William PURSLEY of the State and District aforesaid in Consideration of the sum of two hundred Dollars to me paid by Philip DILLARD of the State and District aforesaid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have granted bargained and sold and Released and by these presents do Grant bargain sell and release unto the said Philip DILLARD all that plantation or tract of land Containing Eighty five Acres more or less situate and lying in the State and District aforesaid on the waters of Cuffeetown Creek.  Creek on the West side of Beaverdam Joining lands of Enoch BRAZEAL

Beginning on a White Oak Corner thence running West course to a Red Oak corner thence running nearly a East Course to a pine on a branch then down the run of Said branch to said Beaverdam Creek then up the Creek a North Course to a Water Oak Corner then running a small distance to a Open line thence running a North Course till it comes to the White Oak being the beginning including the plantation now occupied by the said PURSLEY.  Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appurtaining To Have and to Hold all singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Philip DILLARD his heirs & assigns forever And I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors and Administrators to Warrant and forever defend all & singular the said premises unto the said Philip DILLARD his heirs & assigns and against myself my heirs and assigns and against every person or persons Whomsoever Lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof

In Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this fifth day of September on thousand eight hundred and seven And in the thirty second of American Independence

Personally came Eli HENDERSON before me & being duly sworn saith that he saw William PURSLEY Sign Seal and acknowledge the within as his act and Deed by making his mark for the use and purpose therein mentioned and that he saw Edmond HENDERSON subscribe his his name with himself as witness to the due Execution thereof.   Sworn to before me this 9th day of April 1813.
