           To

John MIMZ

 

Know all men by these presents that I John PRESLEY for and in consideration of this Sum of six hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by John MIMS Have granted bargained, sold and released and by these presents to grant, bargain, sell and release unto the said John MIMS all that lot or parcel of land containing one acre in the village of Edgefield on the West side of main Cambridge Road and directly opposite the lot on which Waddy THOMPSON Junr. Esq. Now lives and being this Lot whereon, I now live -   Together with all and singular, the rights Members, Hereditaments and appertenances to the said Premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining , To have and to hold all and Singular the said Premises unto the said John MIMS his heirs & assigns forever, And I do hereby bind myself my heirs, Executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said John MIMS his heirs and assigns, against myself and my heirs and against every person whomsoever lawfully Claiming or to Claim the same or any part thereof   Witness my hand & seal this sixth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two, and in the forty sixth year of the independence of the United States of America.  Signed, sealed and Delivered in presence of,

  1. Personally came Wiley MILTON before me and made Oath that he was present and saw John PRESLEY sign Seal and deliver this within instrument of writing for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and that he also saw Smith RADFORD subscribe his name together with himself as a witness thereto  Sworn and subscribed to this 18th day of November 1822

I Daniel BIRD Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas, for the said District and Justice of the Quorum Exeficio Do hereby Certify unto all whom it may concern that Sarah PRESLEY the Wife of the within named John PRESLEY did this day appear before me and upon being privately and separately by me did declare that she does freely voluntarily and without any compulsion dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever Renounced Released and forever Relinquish unto the within named John MIMS his heirs and assigns all her Right interest and Estate and all her Claim of Dower of in or to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released.  Given under my hand and seal this 24th day of December 1822
