Thaddeus Alexander Pressley and Effie Etta Ashe are buried beneath this stone at Hooper Cemetery, Speedwell, NC.  Thad Pressley was born December 5, 1880 and died September 11, 1948.  He was the son of Fidella Patton Pressley and Sarah Alzora Johnson of Jackson County, NC.  Thaddeus Pressley married Effie Etta Ashe in 1911. She was born December 7, 1881 and died July 18, 1974. 
Mike Taylor, the owner and submitter of these photographs, is the son of Anna Lee Pressley, a daughter of Thaddeus Alexander Pressley and Effie Etta Ash.


Monterville P. Pressley, born 1841, was the son of Andrew Pressley and Nancy Jane Tilley of Jackson County, NC, and uncle to Thaddeus Pressley in the preceding stone. Monterville Pressley enlisted  for service to North Carolina in the Army of the Confederate States of America, and was a Private, Company B, 25th Regt., NC Infantry .  He lost his life in that service in 1862, and this stone was placed near his family at Hooper Cemetery, Speedwell, NC.  
He died unmarried.


 

James Bowers Pressley was the son of James Andrew Pressley and a cousin, Pink Angeline Pressley. He was born in Cullowhee, Jackson County, NC where he married Laura Emiline Taylor in 1932 in Georgia. They lived their lives in the Jackson County, NC area, and raised a family of seven children.  They are buried in Taylor Cemetery, Cullowhee, NC.


     

             Thaddeus Alexander Pressley, Jr. is the son of Thaddeus Alexander Pressley and Effie Etta Ashe. He was unmarried, a veteran of WW II, and is buried in Hooper Cemetery, Speedwell, NC.
