This is the home of Lt. Col. John G. Pressley, located at 216 W. Academy, Kingstree, S.C. It was built in 1855, and was named to the National Register of Historic Places in June 1997. It is presently owned by the Hamby Family (September 2000).

John Gotea Pressley was born 24 May 1833 in Williamsburg District, SC, the son of John Brockinton Pressley and Sarah Gotea. He was an attorney, served in the House of Representatives from Williamsburg, SC, served as County Judge of Williamsburg, and distinguished himself in the service of the Confederate States of America. He was Lieutenant Colonel of the Twenty-fifth Regiment, Company C, SC, and was wounded at Walthall Junction, May 5, 1864.
In 1854 he married Julia C. Burckmyer, and in 1869 he moved to California with other members of his family, there serving the judicial system of California with distinction. He died in 1895, and is buried at Old Rural Cemetery, Santa Rosa, California.
