Note: The publication date of this newspaper article is unknown but the two men mentioned in the article, Thompson Pressly and his brother, Abner Pressly, were born 1818 and 1833 respectively.
After being separated nearly fifty six years, Dr. Thompson Pressly aged 90 years, of Houston, and his brother, A.P. Pressly, aged 75 years, of Columbus, Miss., met in this city a few days ago and are the guests of the families of Dr. E. Hicks and Lee Hill, Mrs. Hicks, being Dr. Pressly's daughter, and Mrs. Hill being his grand daughter.
These two brothers had not met before in over half a century, having separated the last time in September, 1852, in the Lawrence district of South Carolina. At that time they were comparatively young men, and their meeting after so many years brought real
joy and happiness to them, and they could be seen on the streets yesterday arm in arm, and during the day they visited a photograph gallery and had their pictures taken together.
They were born in the Abbeville District of South Carolina upon an old battlefield which history gives no account of, which is twenty miles southwest of the place known in history as "Ninety Six." Their parents moved from the Abbeville District to Edgefield District, South Carolina and settled among the old Historic families of Brooks, Butlers and Pinkneys, and their politics can be judged by their early associations.
Their father, A.E. Pressly........
