Maude Presley, 86, Galena (Harlem), died Saturday (June 26, 1999) at her residence.
She was born in Council, Va., on June 20, 1913, to the late Daniel and Mary (Fletcher) O'Quinn. On June 4, 1940, she married Starling Presley, who preceded her in death on May 2, 1986.
She was a member of Harlem Church of Christ in Christian Union.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ryland and Florence Presley and Daniel and Faye McClure, all of Fredericktown; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Audrey and Kermit Osborne, Galena, Ann Hartman, Howard, Sue and Guy White, Sunbury, and Roberta and Richard Easterday, Delaware; one sister, Helen Griner, Mexico Beach, Fla.; one stepsister, Stella Ward, Lebanon, Va.; a niece, Rosemary McDonald, Mexico Beach, Fla.; and 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Local calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held at the funeral home following the calling hours. The Revs. Maurice White and Pauline Smith officiated. Additional calling hours were held Wednesday at Honaker Funeral Home, Honaker, Va., and funeral services are being held today (Thursday). Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery, Big A Mountain.
