September 30, 1935Funeral Services for Jack Presley Monday
S. J. (Jack) Pressley, 70, died of gunshot wounds at his residence, 2011 South Montgomery, about 5:30 p. m. Sunday. C. W. Batsell, coroner, rendered a verdict that “Mr. Pressley came to his death from gunshot wounds to the head, administered by his own hand.”
Funeral services were held at West Hill cemetery Monday at 3 p. m. with the Rev. K. R. Isbell, pastor of Key Memorial Methodist church officiating. Burial followed there, directed by Talley. The Masonic lodge of Dorchester was in charge of the services.
Mr. Presley had been a farmer in Grayson county since 1897. When he first came to the county he settled near Dorchester. He lived there until 12 years ago, when he moved to Sherman.
Surviving are his widow, five daughters, Mrs. Kate McCandless of Ralls, Mrs. Jane Sandless of Sherman, Mrs. W. H. Dyer of Denison, Mrs. Lillian Majors of Crescent, and Mrs. Carr Cary of Sherman; four brothers, C. W., J. R., Joe, and Dave Presley, all of Dorchester; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Greene of Alabama, Mrs. Mollie Silves of Rome, Ga., and Mrs. Susie Smith of Dorchester.
