Andrew C. Pressley is the great-great grandfather of Jim Neal, the submitter of this article. Andrew was the son of Eleazer Pressley, born 4 September 1800, and Nellie Helms of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.  The Eleazer Pressley family is enumerated on the 1840 Mecklenburg County, NC census and on the 1850 through 1880 Union County, North Carolina census records.  Eleazer Pressley is thought to be the son of Richard Pressley, born 1754.

Andrew C. Pressley, son of Eleazer and Nellie Pressley, married Ellen Permelia Helms and he appears with his wife and family on the 1870 - 1910 Union County, North Carolina census records.

If you have any information about this family please contact Jim Neal.  He is especially interested in information pertaining to Richard Pressley, the progenitor of these Pressley men.  Jim is also very interested in learning what the middle initial "C" stands for in Andy Pressley's name.  There are several family names that Jim thinks might be possibilities, including Clingman, Culpepper and Crawford.  Does anyone have any ideas?
