George Earvin Presley was born May 21, 1875 in Hawkins County, Tennessee, the son of Greenberry Presley and Susan Mitchell. He was their seventh child, the fourth son.
On August 4, 1894 in Hawkins County, Tennessee he married Matilda Victoria Lawson, the eldest child of W. C. and Martha Lawson of Hawkins County, Tennessee. She was born 1 February 1878 in Hawkins County. The marriage of George Earvin and Matilda Lawson Presley produced seven children. They were:
Birdie Jane Presley (1895-1913)
William Dedrick Presley (1898-1898)
Martha Elva Presley (1900-1989)
James Riley Presley (1902-1924)
Lorna Doone Presley (b 1905 )
Alphord Harling Presley (1908-1914)
Ruby Lenora Presley (1915-2004)
Matilda V. Lawson Presley died 18 May 1917. On 3 April 1921 George Earvin Presley took as his second wife Ida Spitzer, born about 1885 in Tennessee. Ida Spitzer had two young children, Gaines and Mary, when she married George Presley. Her marriage to George Presley produced two more children, Bessie and Henry Presley
George Earvin Presley died 2 September 1944. Ida Spitzer Presley died in the 1950s in California.
