Richard Simpson Pressley was born 29 July 1837 in South Carolina. 
He was the son of Asberry Madison Pressley (1824-1909) and
Elizabeth Frances Holland (1819-1970) of
Pickens County, South Carolina. 
He was the eldest child of six.  His mother died in 1870
and his father remarried to Tabitha King,
also of Pickens County, South Carolina.
There were three more children born.

Philadelphia Isabella Evatt was born 8 January 1851 in
Pickens County, South Carolina, the daughter of
Jared and Margaret Gaines Evatt.

Richard S. Pressley and Philadelphia Evatt married about 1872
in South Carolina. 

They were the parents of nine children, each living to adulthood.

Standing next to Richard Pressley is William Lollis. 
In front of William Lollis is his wife Nancy Harris Lollis.
Next to William Lollis is his son, Adger Lollis who married Elizabeth 'Dolly'
Pressley, daughter of Richard and Philadelphia Pressley. 
She is sitting in front of her husband holding  their son, Eugene Pressley Lollis.
The last gentleman standing on the right is John Harkness,
standing behind his wife, Mary Frances Pressley, daughter of
Richard S. and Philadelphia I. Pressley.
