In the name God Amen.
I Rachel M Pressly of the District of Anderson and the State of South Carolina, being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory, calling to mind the uncertainty of life, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, in the manner and form following.
1st. To my sister Elisabeth Porter of Alabama, I give & bequeath a Note of hand for One Hundred and Four Dollars, which I hold on the Legatees of my father’s estate.
2nd. To my mother Ann Pressly, I give and bequeath, the use and services of my negro boy Cornelius, aged about Nine years, during her natural life. At her death, it is my will & desire, that the said boy Cornelius, should belong unreservedly & forever, to my sister Jane M Pressly, and I do hereby give and bequeath him accordingly.
3rd. To my botherinlaw Elijah, Willbanks I give & bequeath a mare and colt my Bed and Bed Clothes, my Loom & appertenances and my Side Saddle;
Having made arrangements for the settlement of what debts I owe, I deem it unnecessary to say any thing further upon that subject in this my Will.
And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend, Elijah Willbanks Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills which may have been by me heretofore made.
Signed Sealed and Acknowledged, before the subscribing witnesses, who at my request, and in my presence have witnessed the same, on this day the Twentieth of June, in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred & Thirty Eight.
